Executive Summary.

Empowering women to lead and inspire change in their communities.

The Business Executive (TBE) Communications Group is organizing a new, national female gender-specific awards scheme, the Ghana Businesswomen Awards, and an accompanying nationwide conference of award winners and key stakeholders in their activities. The awards scheme will identify and publicly recognize businesswomen from all around the country who stand out for their exemplary conduct, performance and achievements with regards to their business activities, and therefore serve as role models for the rest of Ghana’s female business class.

TBE Group is organizing this unique event in partnership with the African Chamber of Trade, the International Business Council and She Achievers.

Theme for the event “Women Leading the Change, Inspiring the Future”

All Ghanaian indigenous businesswomen and all foreign businesswomen domiciled and commercially active in Ghana are eligible for consideration for awards, as long as they meet the awards selection criteria which are stated in this document.

For the purposes of this awards scheme, although the primary focus on the awards assessment and selection process will emphasize the quality of each nomination in the light of our selection criteria and quantitative scoring model as set out in this document, our awards jury will make a deliberate effort to arrive at a list of award winners that is inclusive with regards to type of business activity, age and region within the country.

Key Highlights of the Conference

  • Inspiring Speakers: Hear from successful businesswomen who have made significant impacts in their fields, sharing their journeys and insights.
  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded individuals and build relationships that can lead to future collaborations and partnerships.
  • Workshops and Panels: Participate in interactive sessions designed to equip women with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in business.

Empowering Women Through Leadership and Innovation

Beyond this, however Awards will be conferred primarily on nominee’s assessed exemplary conduct, performance, achievements and impacts with regards to the awards selection criteria. To this end awardees will be selected using a multi-stage selection process involving the findings of our dedicated research consultants and ultimately our specially constituted Awards Selection Jury comprising 12 identified experts on entrepreneurial and business managerial conduct, capacities and achievements by women in Ghana.

We are using expert selection rather than public voting to eliminate the effects of public sentiments rather than objective assessments based on the stated selection criteria, which a significant proportion of the voting public may not be able to fully comprehend and assess anyway.

Therefore, all participants in the selection process will be guided by clearly established assessment criteria as set out below. Each criterion will be weighted to create a quantitative scoring model albeit with scores necessarily derived from qualitative assessments of each nominee, first by our research consultants and ultimately by our Awards Selection Jury. The selection process is designed in such a manner as to remove any influence in the decisions by the organizers themselves whose roles are restricted to providing logistical support at each stage of the selection process through a dedicated awards secretariat.

Award winners will be conferred with their awards at a five star gala event to be held at a venue in Accra and date in 2025 to be announced shortly.

However the awards conferment event will be immediately preceded by a one day national conference on the importance of high quality, ethical and impactful business ownership and management by women in Ghana, through clear business vision, good corporate governance and social responsibility. Awardees are automatically eligible to participate in the conference which will be held on the same day as the awards conferment event and indeed will immediately precede it, taking place from morning to afternoon with the awards being conferred in the evening of that same day.

Awardees will be joined at the conference by a selection of representatives of various key stakeholder segments in Ghana’s business sector – including business support services providers and business promoters, facilitators and regulators. The conference will consist of a keynote address, three expert presentations and both question and answer sessions and group discussions to make it fully interactive and thus ensure the full participation of attendees, who will also have the opportunity to use it as a unique platform for networking, exchange of ideas, experiences and perspectives.
